The Shipsearcher Pirate Navy / Armada of Doom!

Some irritating scholars would tell us the Golden Age of Piracy in the Western World was short: about 50 years around the mid-17th Century. But the imaginative, creative age of making stuff up about pirates has been with us for much longer!

Pirate ships were usually small, poorly armed merchant ships converted to brigandage. They may have gotten a few small cannon, and of course a larger crew of PIRATES! While many a privateering crew opted to switch to piracy, their ships were also small, predatory vessels. The great pirate galleon bristling with cannon is a modern day, fantastical creation; there are very few examples of larger warships involved in piracy. At shipsearcher, we decided to assemble the below pirate fleet, in the style of one of our numerous navy pages. We’ve created a ragtag Armada, to descend upon you! For a  more serious look at sailing warships, sail training ships, and replicas, please see our relevant pages.

PLEASE COMMENT ON THIS PAGE IF YOU KNOW OF OTHER PIRATE SHIP REPLICAS OR IMAGINATIVE INTERPRETIONS THAT ARE NOT ALREADY IN THE PAGES BELOW, THAT WE COULD HUNT FOR SATELLITE VIEWS OF!
