Attack submarines (Diesel-Electric)
Gotland class LOA 198′ / 60.4 m TDISP 1,600 tons (3 active, service since 1996) AND the very similar Södermanland class LOA 199′ TDISP 1,500 tons submerged (2 active, service since 1989) Formerly part of the 4 boat Västergötland class. 2003-2004 refitted, lengthened and updated with Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) . 2 remaining boats were also upgraded and sold to Singapore as the Archer Class. At this time we are unable to distinguish between these very similar submarines.
Näcken class LOA 144′ / 43.4 m lengthened to 162′ / 49.4 m TDISP 1,150 tons submerged (3 retired, service 1980-ca. 2005, 1 preserved) HSwMS Neptun was the test boat for the Air Independent Propulsion system fitted to the rest of the submarine fleet, and was lengthened in 1998.

HSwMS Nordkaparen (1962-1988) preserved at Maritiman Gothenburg

HSwMS U-3 (1942-1964) LOA 163′ / 49.7 m TDISP 400 tons submerged. Preserved at Technology and Maritime Museum, Malmo.

HSwMS Hajen U-1 (1904-1922) LOA 77′ / 23.5 m TDISP 127 tons submerged. Preserved at Marinmuseum, Karlskrona. On exterior display until 2008 when the submarine hall was built.
